A professional achievement
It's worth noting Jamie's contribution to the emergency response and recovery following the April 2017 flooding events in Edgecumbe and the wider Whakatāne District. Jamie was PA to the Controller in the Whakatāne District Emergency Operations Centre for two weeks during the local state of emergency. As the District prepared to transition from Emergency Response to Recovery, Jamie was seconded to the Whakatāne District Recovery Project as PA to the Recovery Manager and Recovery Office Manager. Jamie collaborated with multiple agencies to bring them under the same roof, reflecting the social, built, natural and economic environments the Recovery Manager was leading.
Jamie drew on existing relationships and her professional experience to work in partnership with external agencies, such as Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the EQC team, Rural Support Trust, Federated Farmers, Chamber of Commerce, CDEM Group Manager, REMA and Bay of Plenty Regional Council.
Jamie ensured the day-to-day running of the Recovery Office created the right environment for timely information sharing and enabled a wrap -around response for the effected communities.
